About the Play: Juliet Capulet invites four other heroines of Shakespeare’s classics to lunch in her favourite garden in Verona, to discuss ‘issues’ they have with their plots. This lively comedy sparkles with wit and an in-depth understanding of the characters of these indelible ladies and their effects on playgoers over the centuries. Newly arranged and original music accompanies the performance, and with a little luck, Shakespeare himself might make an appearance!
About the Company: Gabriola Players Theatre Society is a non-profit community theatre group based on Gabriola Island, B.C. Their goal is to provide opportunities for members of the community to participate in live theatre productions that enrich, educate and entertain. They have been hitting those marks since 2004 with productions, which include: Vagina Monologues, Seven Stories, Lend Me A Tenor, Second Summer, Cinderella, excerpt from A Doll's House, Wizard of Oz. Their most recent shows were two one-acts: Going to the Chapel and Banana Man.
About the Director: Ms. Anderson grew up in Britain where she took part in high school plays, went on to study theatre and taught Creative Drama to teenagers in inner city schools. After relocating to Powell River BC, she chose to give up learning to play golf and became involved with community theatre instead, taking the part of Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion! After a very long hiatus from theatre to raise a family, she came back to community theatre through the Gabriola Players.
