Saturday, The Roxy, 5:30pm, Tickets: $12.00

About the Show: Louise Amuir’s winning performance of Bed Among the Lentils is back! From Alan Bennett’s famous Talking Heads, this confession of a vicar’s wife is one of his most moving and sardonically funny pieces. Fed up with her life, Susan steps out for a most unexpected rendezvous.

About the Author: Mr. Bennett stepped out of his Cambridge, Oxford, academic career into Peter Cook’s Beyond the Fringe in 1960. He went on to perform and write prolifically for the stage and screen: The History Boys, The Madness of King George, The Lady in the Van, Getting On. Mr. Bennett has been awarded honorary doctorates from several British universities, but declined both a CBE and a knighthood. Writes critic David Thomson: "Bennett has become a major figure in the English landscape despite his steadfast wish to remain hidden."

About the Performer: Many of you will remember Ms. Amuir’s impressive performance in The Goat at last year’s Festival. A long-time resident of Gabriola, Ms. Amuir has participated in The Theatre Centre presentations, worked with Emerging Voices for Theatre One in Nanaimo and is a founding member of SoulFire Theatre. She has performed in Gabriola Musical Theatre productions, and Poetry Gabriola’s Poetry Festival as a spoken word artist. Louise attended UBC with a double major in Theatre and Creative Writing.
