About the play:

McIntyre pulls out all the stops in Skinny Dipping including improv, audience participation and a dash of cabaret to strip down and bare the souls of six intertwined women, ranging from a boozy washed up Liza Minnelli impersonator to a sweet unassuming handywoman in love with her gay best friend. With gut busting comedy, heartfelt honesty and wigs galore, Skinny Dipping explores their pain, loss and disappointment, and how they played the cards they were dealt. The show bites down hard, but it’s “the combination of cheek and winking glee that makes it all work.” (Minneapolis Star Tribune).  So prepare to strip down, dive in, and find out what might happen!  Because when you’re Skinny Dipping, what MIGHT happen is the best part!

About the playwright:
Shanna Shrum moved to Chicago in 2005 after graduating from Missouri State University with a degree in Theatre.  Soon after, she began improv classes studying under Michael Patrick O’Brien, current writer for Saturday Night Live. She completed a national tour with Skinny Dipping in 2009. Ms. Shrum says: “The title Skinny Dipping acts as a metaphor for stripping down to that true self and taking risks and I’m not talking about anonymous sex/black tar heroin risks, but doing what you’ve always wanted to do, whether that’s write a novel, run a marathon or tell someone how you really feel".

About the performer:
Kathy McIntyre has been performing as a soul singer for over twenty years and is also a regular cast member of Radio After Dark. Her delight with costume and comedy took her career into a cabaret setting where she found even more joy in connecting with her audience and making them laugh. Musical theatre came calling and Kathy never looked back. She had a ball playing roles in “Supreme Dream”, “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”. It is a huge thrill for her to dive head first into “Skinny Dipping – Not Your Mama’s One Woman Show!”
